Suggest Remedy To Lighten Dark Skin Color In Lips

hi doctor! I am deepa.35 years old.i have dark lips. i dont the reason but my father and my paternal aunt also have dark lips.so do you think it is genetic?as i tried using good quality lip balms but in vain.is there any treatment that make my lips pink or red permanently? thank you.

Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Dark lips are inherent and difficult to treat.
There are various modalities but the result is not that great.
However you can give a trial.
Use a mild depigmenting agent like melaglow in night.
In morning you can apply a mild steroid like mometasone cream.
Later in the day use lip balms, containing sunscreen.
Peels are also a good option.
You can go for milder peels like lactic acid, once a month.
Also take an antioxidant capsule daily.
