Suggest Remedy To Cure Cuts And Rash In Corner Of Mouth

I have been having cuts at the corners of my mouth and a red rash that fans out from the corner of my mouth for a long time. It does not look like a cold sore. Lips are chapped also. The cuts at the corner of the mouth get a bit better but not all the way at night when I apply Bacitacin and hydrocortisone cream. But then they get bad again the next day and are not ever really cured -- especially on one corner. Any answers as to what I should do? THANKS!

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from Angular Chelitis that is inflammation and cracking at the corners of the lips or angle of mouth..
It can occur due to number of causes like Nutritional Deficiencies of iron and Vitamin B12, dehydration, fungal infection, bacterial infy, loss of teeth leading to skin folds at corners of mouth leading to saliva accumulation and infection..
I would suggest you to consult a Dermatologist or an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation and can also advise a swab culture to check for infection..
He can advise you to take plenty of water to avoid dehydration..
He can advise you a combination of creams containing Antibiotic and antifungal agents and steroid creams to be applied..
Apply thick coat of Petroleum jelly..
Avoid pooling of saliva..
Do cool compresses
