Suggest Remedy For Swollen Ear Lymph Node

I have a swollen lymph node behind my right ear lobe, which is causing my right ear lobe to swollen as well. I also have some drainage, dark scabbing, and a burning sensation on that ear lobe. I also have slight drainage and scabbing on my left ear lobe. I was prescribed clindamycin. What else can I do to take the swelling down and ease the pain.

Hi. It appears that you have an infected posterior auricular node on both sides. It may be a possibility that these is a scalp infection that we are overlooking that is draining to these nodes. It can also be a localised infection of the ear lobe that is causing this infection (following an earring irritation or piercing of the ear lobe).

It is recommended that you see an ENT specialist to examine the site of drainage and help evacuate any collected pus within the ear lobe on both sides. A local dressing will help in the healing process significantly. This is important since it can lead to permanent deformity if the infection spreads to the ear cartilage.

In addition to that an oral course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications and application of antiseptic ointment on the region will help in treating the infection. It will also be helpful if the discharge from the earlobe is sent for culture and sensitivity.

In the meanwhile keep the ear lobe dry and avoid putting any earrings for at least 2 weeks. You can expect recovery from this infection in a week or ten days.
Hoping for your speedy recovery.
