Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My frenulum under my tongue is a little swollen and red on one side. I do take advair but have never had any side effects. It s not very sore just a little irritating because of the location. My tongue doesn t hurt. Should I just gargle and wait for it to go away?
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query. The swelling under the tongue can be a inflamed salivary gland duct opening secondary to bacterial infection or any stone (sialolith) in the duct opening. Nothing to be panic, consult a oral physician and get an occlusal radiograph done to confirm the diagnosis. If i am your treating doctor, i would have suggested you take a course of antibiotics like penicillin till the confirmation of the diagnosis. If the diagnosis is confirmed as stone in the duct, then it can be removed surgically. Do saline gargling. I hope my answer will help you, take care.
