My son was diagnosed with a viral infection last Saturday and yesterday woke up with a puffy eye. This morning his eye was swollen shut. His optometrist prescribed an eye drop antibiotic " just in case " but thought it could be a possible sty. Today I took him to our local physician and she prescribed an oral antibiotic ( amoxicillin ) she believes it is more in the lids and surrounding skin area of the eye than eye itself which I agree. His eye is not red inside. He is miserable when his Ibuprofen wears off , says his eye hurts and it is watering clear liquid. What could this be?
