My 19 year old daughter is away at college. She has had stomach pain since yesterday. Says she has not been able to eat for 2 days and the pain is not subsiding. She is bloated and says she has bulge right below her rib cage in her abdomen. She only feels better when she lays down.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your daughter's problem can be most likely due gastritis. Complications like ulcers can give such pain also. For such condition I would recommend taking proton pump inhibitors like rabeperazole , motility enhancers like domperidone and mucosal protectors like sucralfate. Applying hot water bags on abdomen will be helpful to relieve the pain. A consultation with your physician is well appreciated. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
