Suggest Remedy For Sore Throat

my right side of the throat has been sore and my tonsils had deteriorated naturally with age, however, the right tonsil is swollen. I took a light to it and saw the bottom half was a yellow greenish looking pus sack, I popped it and about 1/2 teaspoon of whitish yellow fluid came out, I think it was abcessed, it feels better but my throat is still very sore. I had some old Sulfur drugs and I was thinking of taking it. but what is going on , i had an off an on sore throat for 2 weeks and it wasn't untill i saw the pus that i realized it was infected. swallowing has become difficult.

Hi,thank you for posting your query on health care magic.

Looking at your symptoms ,you are probably suffering from Membranous Tonsillitis.Initially infection spreads into the tonsillar crypts which become filled with purulent material, presenting at the openings of crypts as yellowish spots and at a later stage when exudation from the crypts coalesces to form a membrane on the surface of tonsil.Due to this ,the bottom half of your tonsil looks yellowish-green colour pus sack and yellowish fluid came out on popping.

Mostly as there is a pus formation ,you are suffering from Bacterial infection.

If I was your treating doctor,I would have advised you Antibiotic(like Amoxycillin-Clavulanic acid),Analgesic and Anti-inflammatory (like Ibuprofen),Antacid(like Rantac) and Antiseptic Gargles like Betadine Gargles.

It would be advisable to consult an Otolaryngologist Doctor and then start the medicines.

Also do warm saline gargles.Avoid cold, spicy and oily food.Drink lots of fluids(warm).

Hope this answers your question.Get well soon.
