Suggest Remedy For Sleep Disorder

I have a sleep disorder, and it makes me nod off alot, mainly if I sit too long. The problem is that somtimes when I nod off I get a consious feeling that I am aware of my surroundings, like they are the same what/where I am in, and I hear and see things the same, but know I'm sleeping, and shouldn't be, I panic and even try to shake my head, move, get up, or whatever to wake myself (even Yell in my own head to WAKE-UP!) it is terifying to say the least and I cant control it

Is this a common problem with apnea patients Etc. any Ideas on how to control it. scared of getting fired

Hello
Welcome to HCM.

This type of excessive sleepiness is usually seen in apnea patients. They tend to fall asleep easily even at inappropriate times. This might cause interference in activities of daily living and can be dangerous in situations like the person is driving etc.

The treatment for this problem is to take psychostimulant medications like provigil 100mg in morning. The dose can be increased if required.

Please discuss about this with your psychiatrist.

Hope this helps you.
Thanks.
