Hi welcome to HCM. I understand your query and concern. Persistent chest pain of any quality has to carefully assessed further to rule out acute coronary syndrome related to coronary vascular disease. This requires baseline EKG,a screening 2 dimensional echo to rule out organic pathology and to detect regional wall motion abnormalities. In presence of significant changes on EKG and 2d echo,a cardiac biomarker study specific for infarct related injuries in the form of TROPONIN I and T.If these turn significantly positive ,a coronary angiogram is advised to accurately document the site of vascular obstruction, following which percutaneous interventions are carried out.Emergency drugs like aspirin and sorbitrate are helpful to prevent heart attacks before undertaking any rescue procedures.Discuss the above with your Cardiologist. Post your further queries,if any. Thank you.
