Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. as per your query severe pain while swallowing after wisdom tooth extraction is very common finding and need not to be worried. More discomfort and difficulty in controlling and bearing pain occurs when you chew you may tend to do injury to the healing lesion. Dry socket could be the reason for pain but it will occur after 4-5 days of extraction.I would suggest you to take the prescribed medicines on time and if the painkillers does not provide relief you can consult your dentist to change the medicine to a more efficient one. Combination of Ibuprofen and Diclofenac will give relief. Do warm saline gargles. Maintain oral hygiene. Do not chew hard food substances. Try to eat soft diet that too after cooling down. Use listerine mouth wash. Your symptoms will resolve in 1 week. If symptoms keeps on exaggerating visit dentist once and get IOPA done and start treatment accordingly.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
