Suggest Remedy For Severe Pain In The Groin Area

I am 51 year old female. Healthy and no medical issues. Last week I had my sciatic on my right side flare up or it was a lower back strain. Went to the medical aid unit on Sunday, Feb 22nd and they seem to think it was my sciatic and gave me meds and told me to rest and put hot/cold on there. I started feeling better by Saturday. On Sunday, March 1st I got my period and as the day went on I started to get sever pain in my right groin, ovary area. I went to my doctor and they sent me for a ultra sound and found nothing wrong. I am still having this sever pain but it only comes when I move a certain way. I don t know if this pain has anything to do with my lower back strain or my period. I am currently waiting to hear from my doctor to see if there she is going to schedule any other tests. I have had minor pain like this before when I got my period and it goes from side to side each time my period comes. I have never experienced the pain being as sever as it is now. What could it possibly be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

From the symptoms,it seems that you may be having low backache which can be due to
Musculoskeletal cause,
Osteoporosis,
Urinary tract infection,
Pelvic inflammatory disease,
Nerve root pain etc.

I advise you to get some tests done
X-ray LS spine-ap,lat view
Blood for r/e,
Urine for r/e and c/s,
renal function test,
BMD.

Meanwhile, you can have these medicines for symptomatic relief,
Analgesics and muscle relaxants,
A calcium and a nerve supplement.
Bed rest would be helpful,
Avoid lifting heavy weights and bending forward.
Physiotherapy would be beneficial in the long run.

Take care
