Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve been having really bad knee pain for about a week & a half now and it really bothers me when I m trying to sleep. For instance if I happen to roll over in my sleep the pain from my knee wakes me up and I ve been wrapping it to kind of keep it in place because lately if I turn right it ll go left or vice versa. Should I see a doctor

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. The pain that you have is likely to be due to a muscle sprain or a muscle fibers tear due to an injury or exertion. Since the pain is persistent for last couple of weeks it needs to be investigated. MRI scan is the investigation of choice to detect any such soft tissue abnormalities. In the meanwhile, for symptomatic relief: 1. Give enough rest to your hand and arm muscle. 2. Take mild pain killers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen. 3. Stronger prescription NSAIDS with muscle relaxants may help if simple analgesics do not help. 4. Hot compresses to your arm will be useful pain relieving measure. You may apply a local analgesic gel on that area.
If your symptoms are not getting better with the above measures, I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for further evaluation and management I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
