Suggest Remedy For Severe Neck Pain In A Child

My 10 year old son had a bad neckache come on around 10 this morning. He got up around 7. It is just below his ear on the right side. I have given him Tylenol and it has not helped at all. He keeps asking me to take him to a doctor, which he never does. I asked him on the 1 - 10 pain scale where his pain is, and he says 10. Is this something to be concerned about?

Hi,

I am sorry for the painful situation your son is going through.

The pain he is having in the nrck below his ear on the right side is suggestive for ear infection. He might need a :
- thorough ent examination by his pediatrician
- course of antibiotics
- ear drops

It's better to send him immediately to the doctor's office or er for immediate evaluation and treatment.

Wish fast recovery!
