Suggest Remedy For Severe Diarrhea, Nausea And Abdominal Cramps

Hello doc, I ve had diarrea now for 6 days, nausea and stomach cramps. I don t have a fever nor any other associated symptoms, aside from feeling generally tired and lethargic. I recently returned from Ethiopia and put this down to a nasty bug from contaminated food. I now have terrible shoulder pain - I am assuming this is totally unrelated and just unfortunate timing!? Can t imagine otherwise but appreciate your thoughts and consideration.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your wife have symptoms of severe diarrhea, nausea and abdominal cramps which seems to be due to acute gastroenteritis which seems to be due to viral infection and electrolyte imbalance in body. Need not to worry. I would suggest you not to panic at all. You should start treatment with combination of fluoroquinolones and ornidazole. Drink plenty of fluids to rehydrate. You should take banana on daily basis and light food. Avoid giving any sharp and spicy food. Visit general physician once and get it examined. You should go for blood tests as well and start treatment after proper examination. You should take Ibuprofen along with proton pump inhibitors as well. You should take antiemetic like domperidone and ranitidine for gastritis.
