Suggest Remedy For Severe Cough

Hi, I have had a bad cough for around the past 10 days, it was mostly dry with phlegm coming out mostly in the morning when I wake up. The cough frequency and strength decreased but for the past 2 nights I ve been waking up suddenly with a cough and an inability to breathe for atleast 30 seconds. As if my throat becomes completely shut and after 30 seconds or so it opens up slowly till I can breathe normally again. What is the reason for this? And what can I do to make it stop

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe cough which could be due to infection of upper respiratory tract, allergic bronchitis, chronic pulmonary disease or tuberculosis. I would suggest you to visit pulmonologist once and get chest X-ray done. Go for blood and sputum test first and get it examined. Start treatment after proper diagnosis. Take steam inhalation as well. Stoppage of breathing for 30 sec and coming again is due to breathlessness due to respiratory obstruction. You should take cough expectorants. Take proper course of antibiotics. You should take combination of anti allergic such as Sinarest and antibiotic medications Amoxicillin for immediate relief. Go for pulmonary function tests as well. Sip on warm water. Avoid cold drinks.
