Hi. I m suffering from intense itch in labia majora and minora for 7 years on and off. Have taken many antibiotics anti fungal anti protozoan anti allergic till today but after I stop medication it erupts again after every few months. I have been diagnosed with prurigo nodularis last year in a biopsy. I am not sure if it is really the case because PN is quite rare in this region. I don t want to take any steroid. Please help.

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Prurigonodularis is a condition in which there will be excess growth of cells due to constant itching and continuous replacement of dead cells with new cells leads to nodule formation.

It is a benign condition and may not transform into cancer.

Treatment Of this is by -

Use lots of moisturizer and take plenty of water.

Anti allergen like Levocetrizin at night to decrease itching.

Instead of steroid you can use other agents like-coal tar, calcitriol.

some dermatological procedures like -cryotherapy,laser therapy, photo therapy will decrease the nodule size.

There are some drugs to prevent the cell division like Methotrexate, isotretinoin. (take with doctor prescription only)

consult a good dermatologist.
