Suggest Remedy For Persistent Nasal Congestion

I have had nasal congestion for almost 2 weeks now, which I have been unable to valsalve, which I need to do for my profession. I have been given nasal decongestant, and stronger nasal decongestant, and it has had no real effect. I have been given Mucinex as well, no effect. My nose is not runny. My sinuses have been checked and there is no mucus blockage. I do not feel any sinus pressure. I have no cough. My eyes are not teary. I am not sneezing. It feels like I have something in the back of my throat as well. What should I do?

Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

Nasal blocks for two weeks needs to be evaluated. Interestingly over use of decongestant is the common cause of chronic nasal block! a condition called as rhinitis medicamentosa.
I suggest you to consult an ENT physician and get the following things done:-
1. A detailed examination of your nose to rule out nasal polyps, deviated nasal septum and turbinate hypertrophy which are among the common cause for blocked nose.
2. An oral cavity examination and throat examination is needed to look for enlarged tonsils and adenoid which also cause nasal block.
3.You can use antihistamines like levocetrezine which would provide symptomatic relief.
4.Do nasal irrigation using saline nasal drops.
5.Do steam inhalation twice a day.
If polyps or deviated septum is the cause, you might require surgical correction.

Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
