i have a boil where my thigh meets my butt. it has swelled recently due to me sitting on it at school. now the swelling went down but the boil is still there and it hurts to sit and walk. it is not huge but it is big. i have been applying hot water to it, it helps sooth the pain. the boil is purple in color but it is slowly turning black starting from the top. i have missed school today because i cannot sit normally with it. will this go away on its own anytime soon?
You seem to have developed an infection calks folliculitis which is basically an infection of the root of hair follicles. Keep the affected area clean and dry . Wash the affected area with lukewarm saline water twice daily. Apply a topical antibiotic cream like neosporin or mupirocin over the lesion twice daily. You might need a course of oral antibiotics if the lesion still tends to persist or increase. Do not apply any other cream or oil over the affected area.
