I took valtrex yesterday for coldsores,2 grams twelve hours apart. This morning I noticed a strong odor and faint blood when I voided. As the day progressed I developed bladder pain which has gotten persistently worse. I am also experiencing frequency. I feel like I have a bladder infection but am wondering if these symptoms were caused by the valtrex.
Hi, dear I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. Valtrex is antiviral drug and generally don't cause this type of side effects. You have blood in urine, pain and strong odour so you may have urinary tract infection. You should go for urine routine and microscopic examination as well as culture and sensitivity testing. Then take treatment accordingly. Drugs like levofloxacin or norfloxacin is helpful. It is prescription based medicine so consult your doctor and take treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
