Suggest Remedy For Numbness In The Hands
hi... I have been in hospital last week and had an IV placed on both the hand and just higher above the wrist on the right hand for 4 days. The first morning the day after being released from hospital - I woke up in my bed with my right hand half asleep, more so on the bottom half of the palm up to the tip of the little finger. It stays persistent for over an hour and is slightly uncomfortable. Its happened a few times now , just when i wake up tho. I have just inspected my wrist, and the vein where the IV was placed is very hard as if its blocked somehow - doesn t compare at all to the vein in my other hand. The IV i had placed on both hands whilst being in ICU... the left hand was primarily used and the on on the right hand had to be removed after it got knocked whilst in my sleep. after 3 days tho they again inserted another IV 4cm above my right wrist, but she had problems the first insert, so she went another 2cm higher on the same vein. could you please help or should i go back to hospital

Hi. short answer: no you don't have to worry, your symptoms will pass soon.
Most probably when you had the IV placed on your right hand it developed into phlebitis which in turn will calcify your veins. hence you might feel that your veins are slightly hardened. but these are only superficial veins which means they are not the main veins that help redirect your blood supply. These symptoms that occurred usually will pass as the veins heal in time. If they do not heal probably around 3-4 months or worsens you should see a doctor preferably a surgeon.
