Hi .. I am diagnosed with PCOS on 27 April 2011. I need to take 500 gm Metformin twice in a day. I started to take it since 27 April itself, but since 28 I am feeling like vomating throughout the day. Though it is not comming but there is feeling of vomating throughout the day. I visted to physician she suggest me stop it for a while then start it 1 in a day. Is it ok or I should contact to gynecological.
Hello The metformin is a right choice for the treatment for PCOS . This is producing nausea ( feeling of desire of vomiting as in your case). In my opinion don't stop this drug and keep it continue . When such patient visit my clinic I advise them to take ONDANSETRON 4 mg to 8 mg 1 hour before metformin dosage , within next 7-10 days metformin will adjust in your body and you will not feel any intense desire of vomiting even after the use of metformin without the use of ondansetrone . Pantaprzole or any other proton pump inhibitors increases the concentration of metformin in body if concomitantly uses with metfomin. Hope this will help you.
