Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my sister in law who is 31 yr. old, married twice n have kid living with her parents. She is mentally depressed, very un-coperative, abusive to her parents(verbal & some time physical). she dont listen to any advise. my inlaws are at braking point please suggest.
As per available information she has depressive symptoms, she is abusive to parents, aggressive causing both physical and verbal harm. She is not co-operative and don't listen to others.
It appears that she is most probably suffering from some mood disorder or more specifically bipolar disorder thought more details of symptoms are required for diagnosis. Other possibility is adjustment disorder which can cause symptoms of irritation and other aggressive symptoms. I would advise you to take her to a psychiatrist for expert opinion and for confirmation of diagnosis.
Medicines like sodium valproate, carbamazepine etc are commonly used to decrease the aggression and to stabilise mood. Hope this helps you, provide her warm and empathetic support.
Thanks
