Suggest Remedy For Lump And Bruise In Shin Bone

My 5 year old son fell on a jungle gym play-set and hit his shin today. He cringed, but did not cry. He did not tell anyone about and kept playing, running all day today. This evening we discovered he had a large knot/lump and bruise on the shin bone.
We have been icing it and keeping it elevated. Is there anything to be concerned about?
