Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history about your 19 month old daughter having loose stools for months, smelling like fish and gives
diaper rash like burning of the skin also has red chicks, thought to be
eczema...
The history is suggestive of an intestinal infection, severe enough to cause rash.
The eczema on cheeks may be an
atopic dermatitis and usually is self-liming by the age of 5-7 years.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
- send the stool for tests for three days.
Clinical valuation by a
Pediatrician, examination and proper antibiotic cover active against intestinal infection should solve the problem.
Also to see for the source of infection in utensils and water.
The children start walking, running and playing around and usually put anything in mouth. Hence you have to watch for this too and avoid such a thing.
Also give probiotics suitable at this age and stage.
Watch for intestinal worms and give medicines for this too on empirical basis.
Once cured, the further preventive measure are very important to avoid intestinal infections.
