My husband sucks on mint lifesavers all day. He is having trouble swallowing. What effect do the lifesavers have on his digestive system? I don t think his doctors realize just how many he goes thru in a day. He claims to have a lemon taste when he doesn t have one in his mouth.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your husband have symptoms of indigestion which seems to be due to gastrointestinal reflux disease and called acid reflux disease. It could be due to food intolerance and improper metabolism of body. Simple alteration in lifestyle can give relief from this condition . As this condition create acidic condition in digestive system body produce excessive saliva to naturalize the acidic content. I would suggest you to eat light meals specially before going to bed. Avoid eating heavy and spicy food. Take antacid like gelusil. Also take little walk after every meal. Consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . He/she will rule out conditions like pancreatitis, liver disease, serotonin syndrome, oral ulcers, and oral infections. Doctor may prescribe drugs like ranitidine and omeprazole to block the acid production .
