Suggest Remedy For Head Injury

my son fell on a bed of rocks at the beach today and landed flat on the back of his head and back. He is 10 years old. he says that the top of his head hurts, no other symptoms, no knott. It's been about 12 hrs now. Do I take him for a CT? Anything else I should do? Thanks

Hello. Thanks for asking form HCM.


I can understand your concern. It is good that other than headache he is not having any other complaint. You can look for signs of dangerous head injury
: vomiting
: bleed through nose/ear/throat
: loss of consciousness for more than 5 min or decreasing consciousness
: onset of new focal deficit
: fits
: persistent headache, not responding to painkillers
If any of above sign, you should consult ER as soon as possible. The doctor might advise him CT scan of head after evaluation. Further management will be decided after report.

If no above signs, no need to worry. You can follow few tips
: Apply icepacks at injury site
: You can give him painkiller like Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription
: In case of vomiting, turn head to side
: If still no relief, you should consult doctor.
