I fell 6 days ago on my left outer thigh. The bruising started immediately and the area is huge, from the top of my thigh about 10 inches long and wrapping around the outside and half way around the back of my leg. It is all different colors. What worries me is that it is still very painful, and there is a large hard lump on my outer thigh that is about six inches by six inches should I be concerned, and what kind of doctor do I go see? Thank you,Kelly
Hi. Thanks for your query and an elucidate history. Read and understood that your description of such a large lump is obviously suggestive of a large hematoma. Such large hematomas can occurs only if: - Vein or artery has been ruptured in a potential space. - You have coagulopathy of any sort. - taking some medicines that cause delayed clotting.
I would advise you to rush to a Doctor or ER and to get investigated for any coagulation defect, Ultrasonography of the area to see that it is a hematoma. It can be aspirated and compression bandage given. Correction of any coagulation defect.
I hope this answer help you for proper and early diagnosis and treatment.
