My 75 year old father who has hypothyroidism, asthma, adn eczema had a fall and has a impacted fracture at the neck of the femur. In 7 weeks he is walking with a walker. Please advice what is the steps he should follow - he has been advised immobility except for personal hygiene

Welcome to HCM Hello,The goals of treatment in patients with femoral neck fractures are to 1,promote healing 2. prevent complications 3. return function of the limb This can be done by 1. Improvement of nutritional status, 2. Early rehabilitation with walking activities 3. Physiotherapy significantly improve functional outcome . The use of multimodal analgesia and regional analgesia primarily by perioperative continuous femoral nerve blocks also improve the medical prognosis and functional outcome of the patient.
