Suggest Remedy For Erectile Dysfunction

Hi, I'm a 19 yr old married man. Recently, I haven't been able to get an erection with my wife of 2 yrs. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I just joined the Marine Corps Delayed Entry Program and I've switched my dieting 360 degress (from eating fast food for breakfast, lunch & dinner, to eating lean cuisines and water all day). I've gone from eating 3000 calories to dieting at 1200 calories a day. Help please....

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Dear service user,
Thank you for writing to healthcaremagic.
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns regarding insufficient erections as compared to previous acts.
Let me understand if your erection problem has started after making changes in diet. If it is so kindly consult your dietitian and discuss this issue.
It is extremely rare that diet change cause erectile dysfunction(ED).
Common reasons for ED are
1. Diabetes (nerve damage and vessels narrowing)
2. Some medicines like anti depressants and anti psychotics
3. Performance anxiety (the most common reason)
4. Psychiatric disorders (depression, anxiety)
5. Alcohol use (nerve damage and testicular injury)
6. Smoking (vessels narrowing)
7. after some surgical procedures (nerve damage)
8. Low hormonal levels (rare)

Let me know whether you achieve and maintain a good quality of erection in sleep, in the early morning, during masturbation but not at the time of coitus? If you are able to achieve and maintain erection in any one of the above mentioned situations than your problem is more likely psychological rather than physical.

I recommend you to discuss this problem with your psychiatrist who will assist you to find out reason for this problem in your case.

There are potentially effective and safe medications as well as behavior therapies for erectile dysfunctions. Psychiatrist will identify the best suited for you after knowing your history.
I hope this will help you.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help. Wish you good health.
