Suggest Remedy For Elevated ESR

Last week afelt very ill, had dizziness, high heart rate & diarrhea with nausea. Discontinuation of 120mg of dulexotine. Symptoms were high BP 155/100, tests results were LFT ALT = 36 and elevated ESR = 46. No anaemia present and platelet count was fine, urea test was good also. I am quite a big drinker but doc says ESR probably wouldn t be elevated if we were talking about alcoholic liver ? Do I need to worry....he wants a re-test done in 4 weeks?

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. ESR is an inflammatory marker.
2. Diarrhea, nausea are all secondary to inflammation and could have given rise to raised ESR.
3. Nothing wrong in repeating. Alcohol, not only damages the liver, it can affect multiple organs. Inflammation involving these organs could have cause raised ESR. Repeat the test. If not due to diarrhea, possible due to alcohol. You need to reduce alcohol intake.
Hope it helps.
