Hello
As you mentioned that your daughter is having severe bouts of cough ( in my opinion caused by sever allergy ).
Your doctor prescribed actifed syrup i.e triprolidine+ pseudoephedrine .
While asthalin is a potent , safe & effective bronchodilator .
First of all I want to make you ,one thing very clear that "ASTHALINE" inhaler is not a habit forming drug , so you need not to worry at all ( that you have to use it forever) .
Now about the question of severe cough . As one thing is clear your daughter is having childhood asthma ( very common ) ,once your daughter will attain the age of 15-16 years , episode of these attacks will subside .
When such type of patient visit in my clinic I advise them to take Bambuterol hydrochloride syrup 0.2 to 0.4 mg / kg body weight at the night time .
Also give her monteleukast 2.5 mg twice in day ( syrup ) .
Hope your daughter will get relief with these drugs .
So please get in prescription from a doctor .
Good luck.
