Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My six month old daughter is sick and is passing stool with unusually frequency (3 to 4 times a day). Some non medical people including my mother has told me that she has tash: soar in the stomach which I understand is a common condition young babies suffer due to eating sweet or sugary food. She s drinking Lactogen 1 milk mixed with cereal. I am started giving her as medication metronidazole (flagyl) syrup but the toileting has not stopped. can you advice what s best I can give her for this condition.
Hi, You should not give antibiotics without pediatrician's guidance . You should start ORS 50 ml with each loose stool . Also continue breast feeding . The loose stools will subside in 1 to 2 days . In case the frequency increases report to emergency services immediately .
Will be happy to review .
