Suggest Remedy For Delayed Periods

I m 52 1/2 and my period is a week and a half late. My periods have been heavy one month and then light the next month but have always been within 25-28 days apart. My husband had a vasectomy 22 years ago and I have not been with anyone else. I m a safe to assume this is the start of menopause?

Hello,
Thanks for letting us know your health concern. I have gone through your query and would like to offer you some information. Considering your age, you can presume the current situation as peri-menopause. It is very very rare to conceive at this age, especially when permanent sterilization took place. The ideal way to deal is to have a proper clinical exam, pap smear, hormone assay and a sonogram of the pelvis preferably in the trans-vaginal route. If everything is fine, induction of the period can be done if needed. Hope this helps.
