hello. my 2 n half year old son started taking dexpoten 4 ml morning n evening for 2 days with the complain of cough n cold and runny nose. last nite he had a disturbed sleep and stooped having anythg from the morning, not even milk.wht shud i do now?

Such symptoms in children of this age is usually caused due to certain viral infections which can last for 5-10 days. Dexpoten contains dexmethorphan which is a cough suppressant. Rather, an expectorant should be given instead.

Sudden stoppage of feeding in a child is indicative of an infection and you should take the child to a pediatrician without delay and get him assessed. The doctor would be able to examine him and prescribe appropriate medicines including antibiotics if necessary.
