my husband swallowed a piece of spare rib down the wrong pipe and choked and gaged initially and it s been 4 hours and still feel stuck in his rib cage area and making him gag but not vomit. What should we do? Can they x ray at the hospital to see if it s actually in his lungs or just stuck in the regular pathway?

Yes, you have to go to Emergency Room to get an X-ray of the neck in two views and X-ray of the chest. This will confirm the place at which the foreign body is stuck and then with the help of the Endoscopy this can be removed. Stop giving anything orally.
He needs to be nil by mouth.
