I keep getting crushing pains in my chest and pinching pains just below my chest to the side. I have also coughed up blood and have a cough which comes and goes at times. I have had a chest x-ray and its come back clear, also have given a stool sample and all is well. I just had some blood test done and its shown that the esr and crp are quite high. What could this be? I am female, age 29 years old.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) and CRP (CAD reactive protein) are markers of inflammation. And your symptoms can be due to bronchitis (inflammation of airways). You are also having hemoptysis (blood in sputum) with normal chest x ray. This is seen with bronchitis. So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (pulmonary function test). PFT will not only diagnose bronchitis but it will also tell you about severity of the disease. And treatment of bronchitis is based on severity only. You may need inhaled bronchodilator and inhaled corticosteroids (ICS). Don't worry, you will be alright. First diagnose yourself and then start appropriate treatment. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
