General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I am sorry for the situation your mom is in.

The burning sensation in the mouth and chest she is currently feeling especially after eating is indicative for stomach problems:
- GERD
- gastritis
- ulcer

or cholecyst issues.

I advise to run the following tests to determine the right cause:
- abdominal ultrasound
- upper endoscopy
- complete blood count
- liver/kidney/pancreas function tests

Meanwhile, I highly recommend to:
- eat often and small portions,
- do chew up slowly
- avoid spicy, chilly, oily, carbonated foods/drinks
- avoid alcohol, coffee, chocolate, etc.
- take OTC antacids after eating
- get her sleep with raised head

Hope it helped!
