Suggest Remedy For Burning Eyes And Insomnia

Hi doctor,
For two weeks now I've been having trouble sleeping at night or even thru the day. My eyes burn and want to shut down on me even after I wake up. It takes me 2 hours to sleep. And now my body feels tired and weak. When I stand up I want to sit right away. I have hypothyroidism and I take medicine for it, but I don't think it can be my thyroid because my glands are not swollen. Please if you can help me figure something out. I was thinking it's maybe because I lack vitamins and iron.

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. You have hypothyroidism and even if your glands are normal and not swelled still your thyroid levels can be in deranged levels. So get your thyroid levels checked and if TSH comes in high range ask your doctor for dose adjustments. Such symptoms are common in hypothyroid conditions.

Other possibility is nutritional deficiencies. Low Vitamin B12 levels, anaemia can present with such symptoms. Get your haemoglobin and B12 levels done to rule out these conditions.

If everything comes normal then other likely possibility is depression. Mild depression can present with such symptoms. Visit a psychiatrist for evaluation of your symptoms and help. Medicines like Modafinil, Armodafinil can help to improve day time alertness and will help you. In persistent symptoms SSRIs can be used. Visit a psychiatrist for prescription.

Thanks, Hope this helps you.

Take care
