Suggest Remedy For Bumps On Scalp

Please tell me what you think. I had small non painful bumps on my scalp that suddenly appeared out of no where about the size of an eraser tip that felt smooth but soft and squishy but firm and when I dug my nail into them an oily blood subtance came out and then the pain was unlike anthing I had ever experienced before and I also felt deaply seaded across the bumps these really fine sensitive nerve like veins that were as small as a fine peice of hair and several of them ran in rows closesly together surrounding the bumps. The bumps would secrete this smelly oily substance when rubbed in a circular motion I started feeling fatty tissue much like the fat that you would trim off of peice of meat. The little like veins would twist and twirl like a little ball as I would circulate my fingures around it, I could grab it for a second and it stretched outward like a rubber band and would get nerve pain a little, some seemed to break in half and others stay deeply seaded down into the raised bump and these are not healing they feel like they crust over feeling much like the top of a wart but it's really just the small rows of nerve like veins hardening and when you try to pick off the top scab like wart they are like super glue to my head and the scabs can be a little flexible but also crack like a piece of hard cand. The scabs look much like oatmeal with colors of beige, and brown specs and the cycle of this just repeats its self over and over again. I saw a dermatologist who seemed to think that I have something call Purigo Nodularis in my scalp, however he took no skin samples and I have been dealing with these places in my scalp now since this past summer about 8 to 9 months now. I am a white female, middle aged with fair skin blue eyes and my hair color is a dark brown and I have naturally curly hair that is very dry with an itcy scalp all the time. Could my doctor be wrong and could it be something else, please let me know, thanks Debbie R.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain recurring itchy bumps over the scalp can occur due to causes like hair follicle infection of Folliculitis, bacterial infection causing Impetigo, allergic reactioncausing Contact Dermatitis etc..

I would suggest you to consult a Trichologist or Dermatologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like microscopic examination of the scrapings from the scalp and blood tests can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

You can be advised antibiotics, anti inflammatory medicines, anti allergic medicines and topical application of antibiotic and steroid ointment..
Avoid scratching the bumps to avoid infection..
Wash the scalp every alternate day with a mild shampoo..
Avoid moisture accumulation in the scalp..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
