Suggest Remedy For Bruised Eardrum

I went diving recently, and was having sharp pains in my right ear, when I went to my GP, he said that I have a bruised eardrum. It's now been 6 days since the incident, and the pain has woken me up as it is sharper than ever....should I be concerned or just take some ibuprofen?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that there has been bruising or perforation of the eardrum secondary to diving as when you dive from a certain height without ear protecting devices like earplugs, water surface act like a solid surface and diving causes sudden traumatic injury to the ears and it can lead to damage to eardrums..

Taking Ibuprofen along will not solve your problem and you need to consult an ENT expert and get evaluated..
He can advise you antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkillers,nasal decongestants and also antibiotic and analgesic eardrops for relief..

In case if there is large perforation of the eardrum then surgical correction via Tympanoplasty procedure is advisable..

As of now you can take Ibuprofen to relieve pain and if pain is severe you can take higher painkillers like Tramadol..
