Suggest Remedy For Bruise On The Calf

I have a large bruise on my left calf. It's weirdly shaped but oval ish, but the center of the bruise isn't bruised! This was after a b12 injection given to myself that was supposed to go into the muscle, but I got scared and don't think it went deep enough. But is this something to worry about? It hurts to touch obviously and is a little bit raised.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Welcome to Health Care Magic. I read carefully your query and I understand your concern.

As I understand from your explanation, you have a hematoma because you have ruptured a blood vessel during your injection. I may suggest you try simple therapies at home in order to treat this superficial (under the skin) hematoma. Most injuries and bruises can be treated with resting, icing, compression, and elevating the area. Regarding the pain from hematoma, it can be treated with pain medications such as acetaminophen (Tylenol).

Hope I helped with my answer. For further concerns feel free to ask again, I would be happy to answer you.

Kind Regards,
Dr. Ina Zaimi
