Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had an injury on Thursday this past week in my soccer game with the arch of my foot. I also have a pretty decent sized bone spur on the inside of my foot from my hockey skates. Pain is coming from the arch of my foot and also the bone spur. I cannot put weight on my foot and my leg will give out and It s painful to try to walk on. Should I get this checked out? Or keep letting it heal on its own
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns. It seems that you have hurt your foot while playing soccer.X-ray of foot involved AP & Lateral view is needed to exclude bony injury. Also you have a a calcaneal spur , a small bony projection that is formed on the calcaneus or heel bone, either at the back of the heel or under the sole of the heel, caused by damage to the bone accumulating over a long period of time as a result of chronic inflammation of the Achilles tendon in the calf or the tough sinewy tissue called the plantar fascia, which is found on the soles of the feet. If you are overweight, losing weight can help resolve foot problems . Use suitable shoes with a small cushioned insole support for the heel inside the shoe. Additionally you can undergo serum 25(OH) Vitamin D level and serum calcium. Leaving it to heal on its own cannot be advised since your walk is painful.
