Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hi,
If it is a frank red blood in stools it could be due to bleeding from anus, rectum or large intestine. If it is altered blood (black or dark brown) it could be from your stomach or small intestine. I think you consult a physician immediately.
If i were your treating physician i would have done a complete blood count, liver function tests, and an ultra sound. Endoscopy may be needed depending upon type of bleed.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

With warm regards,
Dr Ajish TP (MD,DM)
Consultant Endocrinologist.
