Suggest Remedy For Bleeding Gums In An Infant Post A Fall

My 1 year old daughter fell off the couch last week and immediately her gums started bleeding. She did not hit any object on the way down. Every since she will not let me brush her teeth (when previously she was very good about letting me brush her teeth) and both times I was able to get into her mouth I barely applied pressure with the toothbrush and both her top and bottom gums bleed. She feel on her bottom yesterday and again her gums bled. We are very worried!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain although a direct blow to the gums has not happened but some level of trauma must have occurred and in case if there is excess of bleeding as compared to the level of injury then there might be inflammation in the gums caused by 2 reasons:

1.Due to teething as in this age milk teeth erups and there can be inflamed and swollen gums leading to bleeding on slight stimulation.
2.In case if there is a poor Oral hygiene condition then the infection in the gums can cause inflammation and swelling and any mild trauma can lead to bleeding..
You should consult a Pedodontist and get her evaluated..
In case of teething induced Inflammation and bleeding cold backs over the gums can relieve..

In case of infection cleaning of the teeth can help..

As of now do cold packs over the gums..
Use an ultra soft toothbrush to brush her teeth or it she does not allow atleast clean the teeth and gums using a sterile gauge..
Feed her with more of cool fluids and foods..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
