Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Good Day I have been having a serious back pain for a while now. I play football at youth level and about 3-4times a week. On the lower right side of my back starts to hurt when i play football then it builds up gradually until i cant't walk properly. My back becomes very tight and there is a very sharp pain. This happened to me last year but it was only like for a week and then it went. Now this year it has been for about 4weeks now. Through last week i rested my back and didnt play at all. Did a lot of stretching every morning but it still hurts. Today during training the same back problem happened again.

Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to intervertebral disc injury of lumbo sacral area or sacro iliac joint arthritis. An orthopedic examination is necessary to rule out this and a X ray followed by MRI might be required if there is positive signs of disc herniation. For such cases i advice NSAIDs like aceclofenac, muscle relaxants like cyclobenzaprine and neurotropic drugs. I also recommend physiotherapy and muscle strengthening exercises along with this. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
