Suggest Remedy For Anxiety

Not sure whats going on with me... It all started about three months ago. My anxiety had completeley vanished a couple years backs and recently it has all the sudden come back. I know certain events can cause it to come back, but this was just random, I just had a panic attack after I thought there might be peanuts in a food I was eating (im allergic). About two weeks after it came back I woke up one morning and I was extremely lightheaded. I have been lightheaded ever since, literally no time have I ever felt normal in the head. I always feel like I m about to pass out, one time I woke up in the middle of the night feeling so much like I was going to pass out, but after I got up and walked around a little bit it went away and I was able to fall back asleep. After developing the lightheadedness I started to get heart palpitations and chest pains, which has made my anxiety worse. I wore a holter monitor for 24 hours and got my blood tested but nothing showed up. The chest pains I ve been having are becoming more and more frequent and I would describe them as shooting/stabbing chest pains that last for about a second, but can go on much longer. Sometimes I have lingering ones that can last for 20-30 minutes and are more like a dull ache, I feel like there is something in my chest I need to pop, but I cannot pop it. They are mostly in my upper back, under my left shoulder blade, right side and center of my chest. I trust my doctor and believe it isn t heart related, but I am worried something is wrong with my lungs. I am 17, male, don t smoke or do drugs, a little bit underweight, and healthy, but I have not exercised this whole summer. The only medical history my family has is cancer and my great grandfather had a few hard attacks. Anxiety does run in the family consistently in the family, but it is never consistent, it always had come and gone. My question is if you think this is stress/anxiety related or if I should go back to the doctor

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello, Welcome to Health Care Magic

I have read your query and I can understand your concern. You have symptoms like light headed ness, fear that you are about to pass out, chest pains, feeling that something is there in chest and you have to clear it again and again. Doctors didn't find any significant correlation. Still you gave anticipation that something is serious in lungs. Such symptoms could be occurring because of somatic symptoms of anxiety. Vague physical symptoms are seen in anxiety. There is no need to fear, consult a psychiatrist for evaluation and treatment. Medicines like duloxetine, Amitryptiline can be useful in such symptoms. These medicines will help to decrease pain also. Consult a psychiatrist for treatment and prescription.

Thanks, hope this helps you
