Suggest Remedies For Red And Swollen Area On The Knee Post A Cat Scratch

Yes. My cat scratched me on my left knee. I piece of material from my pants got into the scratch. I cleaned it with soap and water and finally got it out. It is red and swollen. I can t put any bandages on it or anti bacterial cream..? My knee hurts and a little swelling.. is there something else I can do today besides getting checked?? Sorry but I don t have fifteen dollars. My husband is having a procedure tomorrow. Getting a shot in his eye. He has macro degeneration... so I ll have to cancel and worry about me after he gets done... thank you anyway.

Hello!

Related to your symptoms I think this is cat scratch disease. You should know that cat-scratch disease (CSD) is a common and usually benign infectious disease caused by the bacterium Bartonella henselae. Anyone who owns a cat or interacts with a cat is at risk for contracting cat scratch fever. You have an increased risk of becoming seriously ill from cat scratch fever if you have a weakened immune system. I think you should be aware of common symptoms of cat scratch fever like a bump or blister at scratch site, swollen lymph nodes near the scratch site, fatigue, headaches,a low-grade fever. If you have these symptoms you need to do a physical examination by a doctor and PCR test for bartonela henselae and to take antibiotics (azitromicin,or bactrime) if need it . During this time, you can wash with soap and water (as you have done) and apply local antiseptic (betadine solution)and local antibiotic crem (eritromicini if you aren't allergic) in the scratch skin because there exist inflamation signs.
I hope my answer help you. I wish a quick recovery.
