Suggest Remedies For Osteoarthritis In The Hips

I am a 66 yr old male with osteo arthtritic hips that I need to delay surgery for about 6 months due to my job requirements. I have been taking 8 to 10 ibuprofin to be semi normal walking around for some months now. I have taken naproxin now 2 at one time with no apparent side effects. Can I alternate ibuprofin (say 2 or 3 at a time) with naproxin (1 or 2 at a time) with 6 hrs between each?

Hi i am Dr Ahmed Aly
thanks for using HealthcareMagic site ,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns ..

I hope you feel better soon . hip arthritis sometimes are very painful that may interfere with your normal daily activities .
Actually the hip joint is the largest ball and socket synovial joint as it helps maintaining body movements in most of your daily movement , it is a weight bearing joint so your pain is very sensitive to any increase in body weight or exertion of muscles and tendons of your thigh .
I recommend Painkillers like tylenol 400 mg tabs when needed , steroid tabs or injections , muscle relaxants and vitamin B12 supplements will be fine in most of cases .
You may need to add zantac or malox sachets to your remedy to withstand your high dose of analgesics and anti-inflammatory tabs as they will usually affect your stomach and use painkillers only when needed , hot gentle massages with topical anti-inflammatory gels are very helpful and may decrease your need to your medication .
