Suggest Remedies For Muscle Spasms On Lower Back

For no apparent reason, I've been having muscles spasms on the right side of my low back shooting down my right hip. I'm alternating heat & ice, taken OTC NSAIDS, and rested with minor attempts to lightly stretch, but no pain relief. At what point should I go to the doctors office?

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Muscle spams may not always need treatment as many home measures may help take care of the situation. However, if a cause is identified, the treatment will be by managing it.Possible causes may include: In adequate blood supply, nerve compression, mineral depletion like low calcium or maganesium, dehydration or vitamin deficiency.I will suggest you try the following measures:
-Take enough fluids
-Take enough green vegatables
-Regular fitness exercises
-Take a pain drug like ibuprofen since pain is serious
-Take a myorelaxant like miorel
-Vitamin B complex tablets
If the problem persist, you see your Doctor for examination and work-ups like serum electrolytes, blood sugar test, full blood count to rule out anemia and may be vitamin levels if need be.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
