Suggest Remedies For Itchy, Red And Hive Like Rashes On The Body
Asking for a friend: she has a hive-looking rash that is very itchy, and moving over her body. Some are raised like a bump, some are flat like hives slightly raised, some have a scab on them from scratching, and others are just red raised. they are very itchy and kinda burn. They are on the chest area, elbows, thighs, calves, back of her hands, abdomen. she has no allergies and hasn t changed any soaps or anything else recently. Can you make a suggestion? should she go to the clinic?

Hives can happen due to eating or being exposed to something a person is allergic to, they can follow a viral infection, and sometimes they happen and we never figure out what caused them. The usual treatment is to take antihistamines. She can take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) , or Zyrtec (cetirizine). Both are over the counter medicines. However, if the itching and rash/hives is not helped with this, she should go in to be seen (urgent care or ER) where they will likely give her a shot of corticosteroid and some pills of the same to take over the next few days.
